Official taxi entrepreneur training providing fundamental knowledge and skills for starting and managing your own taxi business. Required for obtaining a taxi business license. The training covers 21 hours. Since 1 September 2026, the taxi entrepreneur examination is organised by Traficom: you take it after the course at a service point of Traficom's service provider.
The course is taken over Microsoft Teams.
The course is taught in Finnish, with English as a support language.

- • Can I complete the taxi training remotely? – Yes, the taxi entrepreneur course can be completed entirely via remote participation. The content and scope are exactly the same as in-person training.
- • What does completing the course require? – Completing the taxi entrepreneur course requires active participation in the training.
- • Why complete taxi entrepreneur training? – Taxi entrepreneur training is a legal requirement for obtaining a taxi business license in Finland. Without successfully completing the training and passing the entrepreneur examination, it is not possible to apply for a taxi business license from Traficom or establish your own taxi company.
Taxi entrepreneur examination
- • Who organises the examination? – Traficom. Since 1 September 2026, the examination is a digital test taken at a service point of Traficom's service provider.
- • When can I take the examination? – After you have completed the entrepreneur training. Only entrepreneur training completed after 1 September 2026 counts.
- • In which language is the examination? – Finnish or Swedish. You may not use an interpreter or a dictionary.
- • What is the examination like? – It has 50 questions in six subject areas, and you have at most 120 minutes.
- • What happens after the examination? – When you pass, Traficom enters it in its transport register. This qualification is one of the requirements for a taxi transport licence.
- • Does everyone need the training and the examination? – No, if you held a valid taxi licence, or were the person responsible for transport under one, when the Taxi Transport Act entered into force on 1 August 2007.
